Lelle Floris is a Sardinian craftsman born in Ghilarza. He belongs to the third generation of a family of knife makers and gunsmiths who are very well known in Sardinia. He began to build knives of various types from an early age with preference for stilettos, switchblades and ancient historical types, both Italian and Spanish from different periods of the last two centuries. The creation of these knives in particular is the result of a careful study of the originals and their size, materials, weight as well as their construction techniques. All processes faithfully reflect what was done by the skilled craftsmen of that time. He obviously chooses carbon steel for the blade in order to have the distinctive patina of antiquity that it forms over the years. For the handles only natural materials are used, such as bone, horns, ivory and wood. The use of machines is limited exclusively to a bench drill and to very few others, the rest is done entirely by hand with simple tools. Each creation is therefore unique and unrepeatable. His knives are appreciated by collectors around the world, especially from the United States, Russia, Germany and Austria

THE IMPORTANCE OF GIFT PACKAGING

The beauty of a gift is also in its packaging: the packaging is in fact a kind of calling card of the gift itself, and when we give a gift to someone we strongly desire to make a great impression from the first moment, even before the gift is opened. That is why there are companies specializing in the creation of gift cases, boxes and cards that have helped us in developing a gift packaging that is original and highly effective. While it is true that clothes don’t make the man, that one shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, or judge a book by its cover, and so on, it is also true that when it comes to a gift, one of the key components is its packaging which can make any object even more unique and special. This is especially true in certain cases such as when the gift recipient is a child, but in any case a beautiful gift box acts as a kind of “captatio benevolentiae” (winning of goodwill) in the mind of the gift recipient, for if he is duly impressed and fascinated by the packaging he will be even more so by its contents. To have an idea in mind, just think about the last time you received a gift: one of the nicest moments was not when you removed the wrapping, for if it were not wrapped wouldn’t you appreciate it just the same? And yet, was there ever a time when you received a gift that was wrapped with crumpled paper or in a poor manner, and it left you a bit disappointed, although perhaps the contents of the gift was not bad at all?
