The king of Damascus steel“ Pier Luigi Piras was born in 1960 in Lanusei/Sardinia. Today he is living in the green landscape of Caredu in the province of Nuoro, only 3 kilometers from the Sardinian east coast. He is a master craftsman of the Italian Guild of cutlers who always handled with particular care the Damascus steel, working it to perfection with linear weldseams. His works are inspired by the Damascus steel blades of Paolo Calaresu and Johan Gustafsson and by Boiteddu Fogarizzu’s finishing. In 2006 and 2007 he won the prize “Colpo di Fulmine” of Calangianus. In 2007 he won third place prizes in “Cutler Expo”, exhibition for collection and sport knives in Milan as well as in the Sardinian exhibition in Assemini
