Vincenzo Flumini was born in Pirri in 1950, a traditional suburb of Cagliari. He has been Angelo Galeazzi’s pupil, the famous engraver from Brescia that signed many famous weapons. For Flumini iron has become a reason for living. He started when he was fifteen as a blacksmith, then he specialized in wrought iron. Following his instinct, he began working with knives. His production is limited, made almost of unique pieces, usually done under ordination. These are numbered and certified by a notary, and if it is wished, they can be personalized through engraving burin by the same Flumini. In his production, with over 200 pieces, there are definitely the most famous knives of the Island, with the characteristic leaf blade, and also the less known “ Sardinian ancient style”.

Vincenzo Flumini ha delicate hands on the iron. He is a great artist, and his passion doesn’t come from a craftsman father. Many collectors pester him with requests. Lately, he is in some American magazines about knives, with blades more precious then jewelleries, with styled handles. In some pictures, you can see Bud Lang, the editor of the American magazine “Knives” and Vincenzo, who, obviously pleased, smiles to his splendid career without being snobbish, even though the high quotations.
As a matter of fact, Flumini’s knife can cost up to 30.000€. This means Sardinia can boast some of the best craftsmen of the world.
For the blades Flumini uses sheet steel C70 and 420. He creates four types of knives: the Resolza for flaying, the Skinner, where the knots are almost all in steel. While, for the handles, he uses wood, ivory, horn, mother-of-pearl, camel horns, and some rare sea-gastropod.
